My glorious journey started in November 2016.
Honestly, I think it started on Twitter but I can’t be too sure.
I have seen this concept all over the Internet, from various places. The idea mostly comes in the form of a brown paper bag wrapped around a book. Some keywords are written on the cover, only to give you a small glimpse of what might be inside.
This relates to a friend telling you a few things about the guy she set you up with. Or vice versa. You know the deal. Well, I don’t.
I’ve never been on a blind date.
So this has always captured my attention. I took the plunge.
I found Amber and this Quirky group on Facebook. As soon as I clicked the join button, I knew I was in for a good time.
I filled out the Google form and was given those few keywords to choose from. I picked the one that sounded the best. And I added all the emails to my approved sender list for my Kindle.
A few weeks later, completely forgetting a signed up for this, I received the book. I wracked my brain to figure out where this book came from! I checked my schedule to make sure it wasn’t a review book I forgot about. I investigated my Amazon order list to see if I pre-ordered and forgot. Nope. Finally, I check the Docs section. And there it was. Wrong Then Right. Unfortunately, this book was a DNF for me. Click the link for my review on GR. That was in the past November.
One thing I really like about this Facebook Group and its concept… Is that you do not have to fully review the books. There is a review form you have to fill out. But it’s not the traditional review. There are questions as to what you liked or didn’t like. Your favorite quote. Would you buy the book and why/why not? Stuff like that. Of course, you have the option to review the books on Goodreads, Amazon, your blog, etc. But it is not required.
Oh well. Not every book is going to work for me. As a blogger (and a reader), I definitely realize that. I figured I would try again. This is a great way to expand your comfort zone and read things you might not have otherwise.
Enter December. I had filled out the form again, but this time I didn’t even read the keywords. I chose the ‘Surprise Me’ option. Guess what happened then?
I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!
Book #1: Letting Go by Holly Renee. Omg. 5*. I was hooked by the first sentence!
Book #2: The Matriarch by Sloane Howell. Wow. It’s not a typical erotica book I would read. But, nonetheless, it’s awesome.

Now. With the November book, because I had forgotten I signed up. I googled the book (meaning: I read the blurb on Goodreads). But with the December books, I didn’t!
I went into December completely BLINDED! I am so happy I did! I should be starting January’s books pretty soon. Lots on my TBR this month.
