“However, in Cold River, these subdivisions were created outside of town, in what had once been farming land. It created the look of a community dropped in the middle of nowhere, and Caroline didn’t understand why anyone would choose to live in a house that looked the same as twenty others.” (p. 58)

Well, let me take a guess! I live in one of those houses, and it’s ruled by a terrible HOA. Haha. The houses all look the same. Granted, sure I would love a different house, but it was the only one available that fit all the specs my family needed. Dang HOAs… 😛

What’s your Friday 56? Or just a tidbit from your current read? Let me know!

    • It’s all good. 🙂 HOA stands for Home Owner’s Association. From what I know, it is basically a group of people who ‘run’ the subdivision. Like, there are certain rules you have to follow. In return, the residents receive a gated community, a community that looks nice and kept – free from debris, plants and trees, etc. However, there are so many rules that comes with an HOA. Our rules are ridiculous! If I had to choose again, I would definitely choose a house NOT in an HOA. All the houses are the same color, all the plants look the same, inside layouts are the same, you can’t have your garbage cans on the side of your house, you have to gain approval from the HOA board if you want to add anything onto your house – exterior wise. It’s a huge pain in the ass!
