Woman in the Photo

Present — ” ‘Not many break lights on Sunset,’ Valerie chirped in the blistering car as the canyon drive spilled onto the main artery to the freeway. ‘Things are looking up!’ ” (p. 55)

1888 — “Mother dislikes summer as much as I adore it. The heat seeps through my skin and warms my bones. When I tilt my head back and let the sun bathe my face, all the cares in the world melt away” (p. 56).

This is an interesting book. While parts of it did fail to capture my attention, I was able to see how two different stories spun together. It took place in two settings: the present and 1888-1889. So it was fitting to use a little bit of each. 😀

What’s your Friday 56? Or just a tidbit from your current read? Let me know!
