26th Birthday!

Guess what today is….

… That’s right.

It’s my birthday!

Happy Birthday

I saw something on Pinterest many months ago. Man, it seems like a lifetime ago. Well kinda, I’ve had it marked on my calendar for a long time. Haha. I can’t even remember what board I saw it on, who came up with it, or anything. I just remember the basic idea.

So the idea is to showcase what you were reading (x) years ago on your birthday. I started Goodreads in 2012, so I can only go back that far. I think the original prompt suggested five years ago, but yeah.

***If you know who this person is, please let me know so I can give them credit. I wish I would have saved the pin.

Actually, there is nothing on my exact birthday that I was reading at the time. Back then, it would take me months to finish a book. Or maybe a month. Or a couple days if I was really into it. However, this book is one I started a week after my birthday, and finished a week later.

That being said, do not be surprised about the rating. While IΒ love the book (and the movie), my rating would be tougher if I were to reread it. Mind you, at the time, I rated books based on how much I liked the plot. Not the characters. Not the composition. Since then, my ratings have changed.

I cannot believe this was four years ago. Wow. Moving on…

The Book I Read Four Years Ago Is:

Fifty Shades of Grey

So… What did you guys think? What is your opinion ofΒ Fifty Shades of Grey?Β

Stayed tuned for my birthday next year to find out what I was reading in 2013.

  1. That is a really cool idea. I hate Fifty Shades. Not only was it poorly written, but E.L. James did a HUGE disservice to that particular subculture.

My main fuss is that Christian Grey is portrayed as this swoon worthy dude into the kink, and NO. NO HE IS NOT. He’s a mentally damaged rich dude battling domestic abuse tendencies, and takes advantage of a clean slate girl. That’s all it is. Its a rich abuser versus a poor naive girl.

  2. Happy birthday! And posting what you were reading on previous birthdays is a great idea πŸ™‚
I haven’t read and of the Shades books. I read a sample and new that the way it was written would annoy me even if the plot is great. I seem to be in the minority though given how amazingly popular they are!

  3. Happy Birthday!!! I liked Fifty Shades and if I had been writing book reviews at the time probably would have given it a 3.5 or 4 although the second and third stories were better than the first. I also thought that there was a lot of character development through the trilogy. Did you happen to read Grey?

  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰ About Fifty Shades though, I think that I will never read that series…EVER. It’s just not for me and I just don’t like it in general thought but I don’t judge other people’s opinion about it also haha.
