Pinterest Fail — Bacon-Wrapped Chicken

Ok, I know what you’re thinking. How can bacon-wrapped chicken be a fail when I love bacon? I’m going to tell you in just a minute if you hang with me.

So first of all, I’ll be honest, I do not have that many Pinterest fails. They are normally all wins. I am very good at taking a recipe and adjusting it to fit my family’s tastes as well as following directions. My roommate always tell me to make cookies and when I tell her to do it, she says no matter how she makes them, mine are always better. With that being said, most of the things I make are actually pretty good. I also tend to make the same recipe over and over again, so there’s that. However, this was a major exception and major fail.

Well, somehow something went wrong and it just tasted horrible together. It could have been the bacon, as I bought a different brand than I normally do because it was on sale. It could have been the chicken because I didn’t season it as I normally do. It could have been the fact that as it was cooking in the oven, it sat in the bacon grease for 50 minutes. It could have been that I didn’t follow the recipe exactly how it was laid out — I normally don’t with ingredients, but I do when it comes to cooking it. It could have been because my oven is finicky and always over cooks. Except the chicken wasn’t over cooked and the bacon wasn’t burnt.

Oh, I had high hopes for this recipe. Bacon, cheese, and chicken? I love all three of those separately, but when you combine them, something extraordinary should have happened. Instead, I got grossness. Thankfully, I had made Mac and Cheese as a side dish so we were still able to eat something without going out.

So here is one recipe I will probably never make again. And to think, it had so much potential! Oh well. Win some and lose some.

Let me know in the comments if you would like the recipe to try for yourself. If so, I wish you more luck than I had!

  1. You’re not having luck with dinners this week are you? It’s okay we all have those “nailed it” moments where everything just flops. And yes, your PB cookies always turn out better when you make them! I have you beat on shortbread though any day!
